    What happens next?

The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) reviewed the feedback received through formal submissions and at information sessions held around the Basin during the consultation period.

The MDBA has proposed changes to the Basin Plan, including a reduction to the water recovery target in the north of the Basin, from 390GL to 320GL. The recommendations are based on research and monitoring, as well as talking to local communities and working with industry experts. Following consultation we incorporated some further changes (read the community consultation report).

The MDBA recommended the amendments to the Commonwealth Water Minister on 9 November 2017. The Minister adopted these amendments and tabled them in Parliament on 14 November 2017.

The proposed northern Basin amendments, including the groundwater and minor practical changes, were disallowed on 14 February 2018.  For more information read the media release.

What are the areas we asked for feedback on?
